Sorry, guys. But your favorite chocolate hazelnut spread that you've been smearing on your toast and fingers is not pronounced "nut-tell-uh." Turns out, it's actually "new-tell-uh."

"Nutella (pronounced "new-tell-uh") is a tasty, unique spread made from the combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk, and a hint of cocoa."

But before you all completely lose your minds, there is one thing you should know. Ferrero, the makers of Nutella, reportedly told Buzzfeed UK that they don't wish to enforce a universal articulation. In other words, it doesn't really matter whether you're #TeamNewt or #TeamNut. 

"In the UK we call it and pronounce it "nut-tell-uh" as do consumers. The US pronunciation is just for them," they said. 

Still, it's pretty hard to come to terms with. You can be rest assured that we aren't the only ones who simply can't handle this madness:
